Social Security Administration Won’t Accept My Client's Documents
For a new Social Security Card, the Social Security Administration requires two different and original documents to prove identity, age, and (if you are not a U .S. Citizen) that you are authorized to work or have some other lawful reason to receive a Social Security number. If you are replacing a lost Social Security card, you only need to prove who you are (your identity).
The Social Security Administration may accept some documents to prove age and identity in addition to those accepted by the Secretary of State. More information about getting a Social Security Card and what documents are accepted are available here. If you do not have one of the documents listed by the Social Security Administration, call the Social Security office at 1-800-722-1213 to see what advice they can give you on what else you can use.
